Haunted

, sometimes referred to as Haunted: Tales of the Supernatural, was an anthology of supernatural tales broadcast over BBC World Service as three separate series in 1980, 1982, and 1984, (although some sources indicate the first series aired in 1979). Some of the episodes were repeated among the series. According to Diversity Website there were 34 episodes, with 26 unique plotlines. At least 21 of those are in circulation.

Sources used to create my own log and double-check titles, dates and cast members: BBC Genome Project, BBC Radio Listings, Alison and Nigel Deacon's Diversity Website, and Internet Speculative Fiction Database.

Currently this archive contains 6 of 26 plotlines and 6 reviews

I found this one interesting with a kind of will-they-or-won't they expectation. The ending fell a little flat, but still worth a listen. 6/10 -- Noelle

One of the very first stories I heard from this series, it left quite an impression despite being a good example of a classic ghost story.  7/10 --- Noelle

Mrs. Grove's husband died sometime ago, but that doesn't stop her from talking to him nightly, a habit which her daughter-in-law finds disturbing. The only one who believes grandma is little Janet, who believes there's nothing wrong in conversing with the dead.

Reviews:
Reminds me of an episode of The Twilight Zone with a happier ending-? Janet's mother was completely unsympathetic as a character while Mrs. Grove certainly had a few skeletons in the closet. 7/10 --- Noelle

Story by: Fitz-James O'Brien, 1859

July 1854. Harry Crown, author of The History of Supernaturalism, takes a room at a Mrs Moffatt's boardinghouse, a building that has a reputation for being haunted. After only a month, however, Harry is disappointed to discover there is nothing supernatural about the property. He settles into a routine of discussing abstract philosophical thoughts with Dr Stephen Hammond, while they both get high on opium (purely for science, mind you), until the night when...

With Peter Marinker [Harry Crown], Blane Fairman [Doctor Stephen Hammond], and Helen Horton [Mrs Moffatt].

Reviews:
Excellent writing and bravura performances lift this otherwise-corny Victorian ghost story into a better-than-average thriller. The thing is....creepy! It'll give you a shiver or two. And then it'll make you wonder--was it real? [7/10] --- Jerry Underwood
